  • Gentle with nervous patients

We explain every step first and go entirely at your pace.

The basics

What is a dental implant?

An implant is a small titanium post placed into the jaw where the root of your missing tooth used to be. Once it has integrated with the bone, a custom crown is fitted on top and shade-matched to your own teeth.

  • Fixed and stable

Anchored into the jaw, so you can eat and speak with confidence.

  • Protects your bone

Replacing the root helps preserve bone and stops neighbouring teeth drifting.

  • Natural looking

Crowns are individually crafted and shade-matched to blend with your smile.

Your journey

Your implant journey, step by step

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Consultation

We start with a consultation to talk through your concerns and assess whether an implant is right for you.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Implant placement

A short surgical appointment to place the implant in its planned position.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Implant exposure

Once healing has progressed, your dentist attaches a cap to help the gum heal around the implant.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Crown scan and fit

A scan is taken so your final crown can be made, then fitted to restore the missing tooth.

  5. Your restored smile

A fully restored smile, with aftercare and maintenance planned with you.

Clinical planning

Planned with the equipment we actually use

  • Straumann implant components

Implant components from Straumann, used for the implant cases we place and restore at the practice.

  • iTero digital scanning

A digital scanner used instead of conventional impressions for aligner and restorative planning, with an on-screen simulation of the planned result.

Suitability

Are implants right for me?

An implant is often a good option if:

  • You have one or more missing teeth, or a tooth that cannot be saved
  • Your gums are healthy, or can be made healthy first
  • You have enough bone, or are happy to consider grafting
  • You can commit to hygiene visits and long-term maintenance

Only a dentist who has examined you can confirm whether an implant is suitable. If it isn't, we will say so and talk you through the alternatives.
